Professor
Godwin Onu was born over fifty-five (55) years ago at Ezira community,
in Orumba South LGA. He is married to a wonderful wife and blessed with
gorgeous children.
The erudite Professor of Political Science had his primary education in Community Primary School, Ezira and his secondary education at All Saints Grammar School Umunze.

In quest for more academic laurels, he went to the famous University of Ibadan where he read Political science. Furthermore, he bagged his Masters and was employed in the department of Political Science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka where he rose to become a Professor.
He had been entrusted with responsibilities that ranged from the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, to External Examiners of Political Science and Public Administration departments at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, University of Nigeria, Nsukka; University of Port Harcourt, Anambra State University, Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Gombe State University, Ebonyi State University, Abakakili, University of Benin, University of Ibadan, Nassarawa State University, the Editor-in-Chief, Nnamdi Azikiwe Journal of Political Science, amongst others.
Professor Godwin Onu is the author of five (5) books, co-authored two (2) and edited four (4); he has contributed to the World Encyclopedia of digital governance with over seventy (70) journal articles, fifty (50) conference and workshop papers to his credit.
Following from above, Professor Onu has on his shoulders choice professional awards and honours some of which include Nnamdi Azikiwe University Vice Chancellor’s Award for Best Lecturer of the year 2000; CODESRIA $10,000 Award for Social Science Seminar, Fellowship/Research Award by the University of Alberta International and Rotary Club of Edmonton, Canada among others.
As Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, he has tremendously transformed the institution to a Polytechnic of the moment in the areas of infrastructure, administration, academic excellence, etc. Today, Federal Polytechnic, Oko is ranked one of the highest preferred institutions as statistics from Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) affirmed. For instance, about 74,000 candidates preferred Federal Polytechnic, Oko in the 2017 UTME examination.
This 8th Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko who resumed rectorship on 5th of March 2010 was recently honored with three awards in recognition of his contributions towards the growth of the polytechnic and service to humanity. The awards came from the United States of America, USA, chapter of the Oko Polytechnic Alumni Association, the Aguata Students Association and Orumba South Students Association. Among achievements credited to Professor Onu since he assumed office as Rector of the Polytechnic by those who gave him the awards, include massive infrastructure development of the institution, sanitising the academic environment such that Oko Poly has become a no-go area for cult activities, introduction of computer–based examinations, expansion of academic programmes in the three campuses of the polytechnic and facilitating linkage programmes with renowned tertiary institutions abroad.
Professor Godwin Onu is one of the brains behind CBT examinations in Nigeria; a notable innovation which made NBTE Chairman, Dr Adamu Kazaure to nickname him CBT Prof. He distributed laptops to lecturers of the Institution to equip them on the challenges of ICT to make sure that the goal of CBT is met. He also organized various welfare and orientation programs for Staff to foster in-service training and development.
Professor Godwin Onu is the Editor in Chief of International Journal of Management policy and administrative Studies (IJMPAS), Editorial Consultants to International Journal Of Public Administration (IJOPAD), International Journal of Advanced Academic research (IJAAR) and so many other journals.
Just recently, he was named by FIDA (International Federation of women lawyers), an international Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in consultative status with the economic and social council of the United Nations (ECOSOC), as one of the 100 most influential people who brought development to Anambra State.
This first class Political Scientist and season administrator, is a practical Christian, great listener and a man who can recognize the tiniest voice of reason in everyman. His humility is not born out of timidity but the product of deep learning and profound understanding of man to man and man to God relationship.
Professor Godwin Onu is a graduate of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos Nigeria; a policy formation center for bureaucrats, private sector leaders, Army officers, and medium-rank and senior civil servants, which was founded in 1979. In NIPSS, academics of excellence, seasoned policy initiators and executors and other citizens of mature experience and wisdom, drawn from all walks of life, meet to reflect and exchange ideas on the great and critical issues of society, particularly as they relate to Nigeria and Africa, within the context of a constantly changing world. This is the highest feat achieved by this wonderful cum erudite Professor, Godwin Onu.

Today, 23rd Of February 2018, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu will commission the aforementioned 18 projects. The program will be Chaired by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige while former Air Vice Marshal Chuks Okpala will deliver public lectures on ICT Innovations.
As he gloriously exits the mantle of rectorship, we pray that God will grant him open doors to keep affecting lives positively. Amen!
